Plot[]
Background[]
Nothing much is known about Bifrons past other than they are over 300 years old and became an Archdemon earlier than anyone else until Zagan was appointed. During their tenure, they become obsessed with learning about the Celestian era, the True Demon Lord, their connections to the Sacred Swords, and the mysterious Azazel.
All that led them to Nephelia, an Elf that through genetic throwbacks was essentially a High Elf, who was the key to all their plans. To prepare, Bifrons created the Homunculus clone of her, Nephteros, and attacked Nephy's hometown to claim her and the bodies of the Elves for their experiments. However, Marchosias foresaw Bifrons's actions and rescued Nephy.
Light Novel/Volume 1[]
Biforns was among their fellow Archdemons when they anoint Zagan with the title of Archdemon. Though they are silent the whole time, Bifrons at this point discovered Zagan had possession of Nephy and refrained from striking at Zagan for fear of reprisal from the others.
Light Novel/Volume 3[]
Eventually, Bifrons decides to make a move against Zagan and sends Nephteros to invite Zagan's Retinue to a lavish ball on their ship. There, Bifrons attempts to trick Zagan into thinking they are a defenseless child named "Nero", only for Zagan to completely see through their charade. Annoyed Biforns tries to scare Zagan with their incredible power, only for Zagan's "Sorcerer Eater" abilities to nullify Bifrons' Archdemon seal rendering them akin to a normal mage much to their surprise.
During the party, Bifrons reveals their goal is to unlock and unleash the "True Demon King" upon the world, explaining that in theory, the original Demon King must've been divided into thirteen pieces by the twelve Sacred Swords. They then reveal the lake the ship is on, is where the supposed battle took place, with two Archdemon seals in this spot, Bifrons unleashes a demonic slime upon the party members. This is coupled with Nephteros's Celestial Magic to finish them all off, but Nephteros' magic fails, so Bifrons escapes the area after putting up a barrier in hopes the rampaging slime will kill all the witnesses of their failure and leaves Nephteros to die.
After Nephteros is rescued by Zagan, she returns to Bifrons and he begins teasing her about the whole event. However, Bifrons is silenced by a magic tool given to Nephteros by Zagan, bashing their head and killing them. After they revive, Bifrons' head is crushed multiple times by the tool much to their annoyance; leaving them to plot more revenge against Zagan.
Light Novel/Volume 5[]
After Nephteros realizes she is a homunculus, she runs away from Bifrons' service which angered Bifrons. Incited, Bifrons sends multiple demonic sludge after her to kill her or bring her back. Also, Bifrons takes Kū as a hostage by possessing her; thus getting closer to Kianoides and manipulating Kuroka Adelhide into trying to kill Chastille Lillqvist. They come up with a clever strategy to divide Zagan's attention by attacking his castle, Marchosias' castle, and the city at the same time, hoping to score multiple victories simultaneously.
However, Bifrons is outsmarted again by Zagan, having Gremory and Kimaris defend both castles and town thwarting Bifrons plans. With their defeat, Zagan has a seal placed on their heart that will kill them if they ever go near Nephteros again. At first, Bifrons doesn't mind only to slowly realize how much they love her causing them great pain.
Light Novel/Volume 9[]
After Zagan left with Nephy to the Holy City Raziel, Bifrons challenged Foll to a fight, thinking they could kill her and kidnap Alshiera. Foll was able to repel them though and earn the Archdemon's respect as well as discover their "magic crystal/sand" body and her new Sound-based magic could kill them; causing them to retreat back to Shere Khan. There, Shere Khan told them about the Staff of Azazel, and his plan to steal it from the Holy City thanks to an Archangel traitor Shere Khan had, Valjakka.
Later, Bifrons arrived in the Holy City to aid Shere Khan's familiars Dexia & Aristella in stealing the staff. There, they managed to get all Archangels in the vault with Zagan and Raphael Hyurandell, exposing Raphael's defection to the Order. With the confusion, Bifrons managed to retrieve Dexia & Aristella and disintegrate the staff (stealing or destroying it) and escape the chaos with a laugh. However, it was later revealed the "Staff" Bifrons destroyed was a fake much to Bifrons' annoyance.
Light Novel/Volume 10[]
With their failure to steal the Staff, Bifrons hatched a new plan to steal another Archdemon Sigil. To that end, Bifrons requested Dexia & Aristella head into Kianoides; however, they did not tell the Twins what they needed to do. Later, Bifrons silently watched as an Azazel possessed Aristella attacked Zagan & Barbatos and reviewed the battle. When Alshiera eventually helped the two completely put her down; Bifrons recaptured Aristella's nearly destroyed body and retreated with Dexia.
Returning to their Hideout, Bifrons witnessed Head Archdemon Andrealphus reading the final blow to kill Shere Khan. Despite Andrealphus promising to overlook Bifrons' latest transgressions, Bifrons created a sneak attack allowed them to remove Andrealphus' heart and secure his Archdemon Sigil for their experiments.
Light Novel/Volume 13[]
As Shere Khan begins his war on Zagan, Bifrons effectively ended their partnership with him and caused Nephteros to go berserk as Azazel in an attempt to reclaim her. During the War, Bifrons would play all sides in order to try and get Nephteros back and would eventually succeed but at great cost. After having a heart-to-heart with her, Bifrons would finally expire and die; having used all of their energy to the point where they couldn't regenerate at long last. With their death, they had set up events to ensure their Sigil would be bequeathed to Valefor.
